The session

The Session is the council for the congregation responsible “for governing the congregation and guiding its witness to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that the congregation is and becomes a community of faith, hope, love, and witness.”

Each Session must elect a Clerk of Session.  The Clerk of Session is the ruling elder elected to serve as secretary and keeper of records and rolls for a session.
