The word IXUS (pronounced”ick-thus) means “fish” in Greek. But the Greek letters also spell out a secret message Jesus Christ of God, Son and Savior! The I IXUS symbol has long been used by PRESBYTERIAN MEN and was added to the circle at the time of the 1983 reunion to signify our unity in the new Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) and our unity with Christians worldwide.

MEETINGS ARE HELD
on the third Saturday of each month (except in July and August)
at 9:00 a.m.
The Northeastern Presbyterian Men continue to be an effective Christian voice in our church’s efforts to minister to both the congregation and the community. Continuing with our focus on the family, we sponsored our annual Family Fun Night in April. This is our most interactive programs with adults and children. The men’s group also supports projects and programs within our church, such as the Northeastern Higher Education Scholarship Program, the Sunday Church School, the Food Pantry, and the Wylie Whisonant Friends of Music Society.
Regularly Scheduled Activities
Men at Northeastern and from other churches and the community come together for devotion
and breakfast, and discuss issues of concern to men. Occasionally women and youth are
invited, depending on the issues, and what audiences we are trying to reach. These events are
generally held on Saturdays in the months of March and June.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Families and friends in the church and community come together on a Friday night in April for good food, fun, fellowship, and entertainment. Everyone gets a chance to participate by showcasing their talents, and playing games. Some-times there are main events which include puppet shows, magicians, clowns, etc.
Usually held in March or April, this event is our only fundraiser. We have featured high school choirs, jazz artists, quartets, outstanding artists who paid tribute to Mahalia Jackson, and Thomas Dorsey.
MEN’S DAY/FATHER’S DAY WORSHIP SERVICE
We plan and provide leadership in an annual Men’s Day/Father’s Day worship service., which is held on the third Sunday in June. Each year a male chorus is formed and rehearses at least four times in order to support the service with music.. Occasionally the men are asked to come forward and rededicate themselves to serve Christ’s church.
ANNUAL MEN’S CONFERENCE
We actively participate in the Mid-Atlantic Synod Men’s Conference, which is held annually at Massanetta Springs Conference Center in Virginia/ Men from other Presbyteries in our synod gather for three days for worship, spiritual development, and fellowship
